Learn More About the Education of a San Antonio Chiropractor

Updated: Jan 9

Education of a San Antonio Chiropractor

There is often curiosity about the extent of education chiropractors undergo before establishing their own practices. In the not-so-distant past, skepticism surrounded the effectiveness of chiropractic care. Thankfully, times have changed, and people now place trust in chiropractors as healers. Despite this shift, the details of chiropractors' education remain somewhat obscure. It's essential to recognize that the chiropractors at Culebra Chiropractic in San Antonio have undergone extensive schooling. This education equips them to safely address a wide range of medical conditions in San Antonio.

Extensive Educational Requirements

Becoming a chiropractor is no simple task. Most take four years of undergraduate schooling where they receive a bachelor’s degree in a science or health. This includes classes like psychology, physics, inorganic and organic chemistry, biology, and hours of lab work for each class.

Getting accepted to a chiropractic college is a difficult process as well, but if one manages to do it further challenges lay ahead. There will be four or five additional years of schooling where there is a great deal of hands on learning that ensure students know how to perform the chiropractic techniques properly. Chiropractors can not be afford to be wrong when planning a treatment with a patient or when adjusting their spine, so the training is rigorous and specific.

The entire curriculum for chiropractors at Culebra Chiropractic is at least 4,200 hours of classroom, clinic, and laboratory work. The U.S Department of Education has been approving courses for over 25 years. These professionals are required to assess a health condition, plan a specific treatment and give accurate advice, all while being able to refer patients to another health professional when necessary.

Hopefully you have just learned a lot about a chiropractor. If you have any other questions please contact Culebra Chiropractic in San Antonio, let us know, we'd be happy to answer them.
